Misogyny is only still acceptable because we live in a patriarchal society and the few men who see the problem with rape jokes and marginalizing women for entertainment aren't powerful enough to change it. Eve Ensler wrote a great piece for HuffPo called Over It that I would link if tumblr would let me, but it won't. Someone should find it and post it.
